Perfect first-time trip for new members!
Voyager’s Rest is a fishing access point in Worden, Montana. We will comb the gravel bars for agate and petrified wood. Experienced members can show you what to look for. After awhile, you will get better at spotting them among all the other river rock.
Appropriate clothing for the weather: Sun hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen if bright and sunny. Warm layers and windbreaker if cold, windy, or rainy. Check the weather in advance and come prepared accordingly. We just comb the gravel bars so you don’t need waterproof boots. Do wear sturdy, comfy shoes or boots for walking on rocks that might get wet or muddy.
Click this ‘Location’ link for the Google Map and we’ll meet you there at 11:00 am! (30 minutes from Downtown Billings)
Safety Information: Exercise caution near the river, especially if you have children with you. The Yellowstone River can be dangerous and if you slip, it can sweep you away unexpectedly.
Tools: Canvas bag or plastic bucket to carry your finds. Lunch, snacks, water, etc. Nothing special that you don’t already own.
Optional: Some people like to carry a long-handled pole with a pointy end like a weeding tool or ski pole for poking prospective rocks without kneeling down. A spray bottle to clean up muddy rocks enough to see what they look like — or just rinse them at the river’s edge.
