The Billings Gem and Mineral Club is a non-profit organization devoted to the enjoyment of mineralogy, geology, paleontology and lapidary arts with specific attention to the Montana, Wyoming, and Dakotas region.
Rock Club Meetings
We meet on the 1st Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM, September through June, in the basement of the Columbia Club, 2216 Grand Ave., Billings Montana. There is an annual picnic in August, a Christmas potluck in December, and an annual Rock Show in May. We do not meet in July. Meetings usually include members sharing recent ‘finds’, an educational presentation, and conducting club business.
NOTE: Due to a scheduling conflict, the April 2024 meeting will be held Wed. April 3.
Guests
Guests are welcome at all meetings unless otherwise noted. Please call (406) 200-8778 if you have questions. Note: Our phone is manned by volunteers so leave a message and one of us will get back to you as soon as we can.
Club Membership
We prefer that you come to a few club meetings as a guest before joining so you have enough time to decide if being a member is of interest to you. Membership dues are paid annually. Member dues are $15 for an individual; $20 for a family or couple. Dues support our annual show and program and club development activities.
Affiliations and Ethics
The Billings Gem and Mineral Club is affiliated with the Montana Council of Rock & Mineral Clubs, the Northwest Federation of Mineralogical Societies (NFMS), and the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (AFMS). All members at all levels of these societies are governed by a code of ethics that include 17 governing rules listed below. Compliance is becoming increasingly more difficult with additional laws and additional philosophies of enforcement. It is important that each member take responsibility for compliance with laws and regulations concerning mineral, fossil and artifact collecting and for his/her own individual actions.
