Places we will be huntng: Crystal Park(15 Aug), Calvert Mine(16 Aug), and possibly 1 or 2 other locatons(17th)
What will we be huntng for??
Crystal Park: Clear, Smoky and Amethyst Crystals.?
Calvert Mine: Epidote, Smoky Quartz, Garnet, and Aquamarine.
A meeting point will be chosen and carpools established once we get a list of attendees. Meetng time will be 8:00 am each morning. Those that want to come later are welcome to meet the larger group at the field sites on their own time. Note that there is a $5/Vehicle fee per day in Crystal Park so please plan accordingly. Please pack snacks, a lunch, and lots of drinks. The field trip will last until the late acernoon(3-4pm).
This trip will be near Dillon, MT. There are many hotels and restaurants in the Dillon area for those wanting to use commercial accommodations. For those with campers or tents, there are several campgrounds in the area, to include the Grasshopper, Price Creek, and Mono Creek campgrounds. I will be staying in a campground, most likely the Grasshopper Campground (assuming availability). No food/lodging/transportion will be provided by the club. You are on your own to make campground or hotel reservations and for transport to and from the Crystal Park area.
Access to the Calvert mine and Crystal park are via good roads so 4x4 is not required. Walking/ hiking will be required to get to the digging locations. Minerals/crystals at these locations are found in the ground. Please bring your own shovels, picks, rakes, and buckets for digging. This site should be good for all ages if you are willing to dig.
The weather should be hot and dry, but it is Montana so please check the weather before you pack for the trip. It most likely will be hot and sunny so please dress appropriately, wear a hat, bring sunscreen, bug spray, and lots of water.

Tools: Gloves, shovel, pick, rake, screen and buckets for digging.
